Chapter 2: And it all Goes Quiet Once Again.

The exam she had dreaded for months was fast approaching. Her nerves threatening to burst every cell in her body. Why couldn’t she control this truly life altering feeling. This was the only time in her life she felt completely and utterly out of control, of not only  her mind but her feelings as well. She needed to get this stupid test over with. That was all there was to it.

Finally, the day came. She arrived 35 minutes early, as she could never be late. It was her biggest pet peeve. She had to be at least 15 minutes early or she felt unprepared and flustered. She was feeling a little nervous, but was convinced all her studying and hard work had to pay off. She knew she could do this. It was just another test right? We’d done 100s over our highschool career. Why make such a big deal out of this one?

Tick tock, tick, tock… The time drained on. “Could I leave yet!?” She thought to herself.

That wasn’t nearly as hard as kaliegh had expected. She felt truly proud of herself. It had only taken her an hour and a half to finish the exam. Which, most students were still in the room. “Sweating it out.” She was relieved. It felt like 100 pounds was lifted off her shoulders. It was as though nothing was wrong. It was as though she just needed to convince herself she was good enough. She was smart enough. Kaleigh left the school, feeling great!

A few of her classmates, sister, and her all decided to go celebrate! Finals were done! School was almost over! All they had left was graduation and soccer provincals!

All that was left was the fun part. The prizes and awards. Who wouldn’t be excited for that?

The noise had stopped. The’ buzz’ gone. For now.

Kaleigh slept for an entirnity that night. Or so it felt.

How men and women Differ in their attempts to feel better…

518ZJh5m6FL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_“Men are like rubber bands and women are like waves” – Men are from mars, women are from venus, John Gray, Ph.D

There are many ways men and women differ. But here is a few points in how the escape themselves in order to feel better.

Men are notorious for going into their caves and dealing with their problems alone where as women like to talk about their feelings and resolve their problems with help from others.

Men and women are very different in problem solving.

They think differently and react a lot differently to similar situations.

So here are a few points on how men deal and a few points on how women deal:

A little explanation on how men are like rubber bands and women are like waves. From the book : “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus ” – John Gray, PhD

How men deal:

  • Men ten to pull away and deal with their problems alone. ( In their cave)
  • They try to fix the problems by coming up with solutions
  • They don’t seek help unless they cannot find a way to do it themselves

Why men are like rubber bands:rubberband

  • Men get so close that eventually the feel the need to pull back. to feel anonymous and able to deal with problems by themselves.
  • Men need to feel loved and cared for but also need to feel like they can be alone
  • They cannot feel to dependent on one person and when they do they will automatically pull away like a rubber band but remember they will always come back when they are ready

How women deal:

  • Women deal with their problems in many ways:
  • One way is to talk about their feelings and all they really need is for someone to listen
  • They go into a well, where their self-esteem is low and they need encouragement to love and care again
  • They talk to friends and family
  • Here the key is women need to talk about their feelings to feel better

How women are like waves:waves

  • When a women feels loved her self-esteem rises and falls like a wave crashing up and down
  • She feels loved but when her self-esteem crashes it is hard for her to love and care for others so she crashes into a well.
  • In her well she needs to hit rock bottom and be filled with love from her partner to replenish the well and then her need to love and care will return
  • When a women goes into her well she needs the support of others more then ever and sometimes it will seem as if she is worse but you need to realize she has to hit rock bottom before she can come back from air
  • So listening is key when  a women crashes down

Now this is just a brief look at a few points John Gray makes in his book. Women and Men are truly different creatures and in order to live in harmony together they need to understand each other.

I would recommend checking out John Grays Book, it is very insightful and has many good points. You will learn a lot about your partner and little things you can do to make your relationship work better and become stronger. tumblr_ls5h69cTqP1r2ri8lo1_500

Little things you have being doing to upset each other may be easily understood and John Gray has some quick easy fixes that can help solve this problems.

I have learnt a lot from this book  and am only on Chapter 8.

I did find Chapter 6 and 7 very interesting oh how ” Men are like rubber bands ” and “How women are like waves.” I think that if you like reading and are interested in learning on how to improve a relationship you to would find this book helpful.

That is my little spiel for today. 🙂

Until Next Time,

Chapter 14- ” A Night to Remember “

a night to remember

Jody was always a great buffer for Kaliegh. She made everything seem so easy.

Talking to people was a piece of cake for her. So Kaligh was naturally very happy to have her with her tonight.

Kaliegh, had always been a bit shy and was a little nervous meeting new people.

As they walked into the restaurant, Kaliegh immediatly recognized those green eyes.

And there he was, so tall and handsome just waiting at a table for her.

She was as giddy as a school girl.

“Hello” Kaliegh said shyly

“It’s great to see you again.” He replied.

Jody had already started a conversation with the other boys at the table as they were varsity players  and she knew them all.

Kaliegh and Ryan talked all night about nothing important but it was amazing nonetheless. They got to know a little bit about each other and she liked everything she was learning.

They had a few drinks and laughed and bonded. Kaliegh hoped this night would never end.

They ended up leaving the restaurant and headed to the local bar that had great drink specials, music, and dancing.

Kaliegh and Jody loved dancing. So the spent the rest of the the night dancing and laughing. Before she knew it, it was 2 am and time to go home.

Kaliegh didn’t want to leave Ryan but she knew she had to and would see him soon. So she was brave and reached up and kissed him right before they left and told him she would see him soon.

And so the night was over…

Kaliegh laid awake forever that night thinking…

Chapter 15 is soon coming…. I Hope 🙂

Depression and Bipolar- ” How they co-inside.”

Depression and Bipolar Disorder

“We all experience changes in our mood. Sometimes we feel energetic, full of ideas, or irritable, and other times we feel sad or down. But these moods usually don’t last long, and we can go about our daily lives. Depression and bipolar disorder are two mental illnesses that change the way people feel and make it hard for them to go about their daily routine.” –

bipolar bipolar_emoticon

There are many ways in which these two mental illnesses exisit with one another. A lot of people experience depressions in their lives. Sometimes only once or sometimes once a year and for others its a major part of their lifes.

“A state of feeling sad. A serious medical condition in which a person feels very sad, hopeless, and unimportant and often is unable to live in a normal way. A period of time in which there is little economic activity and many people do not have jobs” –

Everyone’s depression is different. Each person feels differently and reacts differently to certain circumstances.

You can’t tell someone who is depressed to just not think about it and then they will feel better that is not how it works. It is hard to change your thinking. It is hard to make an reoccurring bad feeling or fear just disappear. It takes practice and time to work with your fears and anxieties. It takes even more time to overcome them.

In a perfect world it would be that easy to just forget about them or put them aside. But depression doesn’t just go away it takes time to help yourselves and others overcome their depression.

Depression can exist for long or short periods of time.

Now let’s talk about the difference between bipolar disorder and depression and how depression co-insides with bipolar.

The difference between bi-polar and depression:

“A common question asked of clinicians is, “What’s the difference between bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression) and plain old depression? It’s a simple question to answer, because depression can either be a stand-alone diagnosis, or a part of another disorder, like bipolar. Therefore a mental health professional is going to examine whether there are other symptoms present (or have occurred in the past), to see if the depression is just depression, or whether it’s a part of a larger disorder.” –

Bipolar disorder contains times of depression and times of mania or hypo mania. There are a few different forms or bipolar. Here is a brief description of four different forms of bipolar:

  • Bipolar 1-is a bipolar spectrum disorder characterized by at least one manicor mixed episode[1]. Bipolar I disorder sometimes occurs along with episodes of hypomania or major depression as well.[2] It is a type of bipolar disorder, and conforms to the classic concept of manic-depressive illness, which can include psychosis during mood episodes.[3] The difference with bipolar II disorder is that the latter requires that the individual must never have experienced a full manic episode – only less severe hypomanic episode(s).[4] -
  • Bipolar 2-is a bipolar spectrum disorder (see also Bipolar disorder) characterized by at least one episode of hypomania and at least one episode of major depression.[1][2] Diagnosis for bipolar II disorder requires that the individual must never have experienced a full manic episode (unless it was caused by an antidepressant medication;[3] otherwise one manic episode meets the criteria for bipolar I disorder).[2] Symptoms of mania and hypomania are similar, though mania is more severe and may precipitate psychosis.[1] The hypomanic episodes associated with bipolar II disorder must last for at least four days.[2][4] Commonly, depressive episodes are more frequent and more intense than hypomanic episodes.[2][5] Additionally, when compared to bipolar I disorder, type II presents more frequent depressive episodes and shorter intervals of well-being.[1][2] The course of bipolar II disorder is more chronic and consists of more frequent cycling than the course of bipolar I disorder.[1][6] Finally, bipolar II is associated with a greater risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors than bipolar I or unipolar depression.[1][6] Although bipolar II is commonly perceived to be a milder form of Type I, this is not the case. Types I and II present equally severe burdens.[1][7]Bipolar II is difficult to diagnose. Patients usually seek help when they are in a depressed state. Because the symptoms of hypomania are often mistaken for high functioning behavior or simply attributed to personality, patients are typically not aware of their hypomanic symptoms. As a result, they are unable to provide their doctor with all the information needed for an accurate assessment; these individuals are often misdiagnosed with unipolar depression.[1][2][6] Of all individuals initially diagnosed with major depressive disorder, between 40% and 50% will later be diagnosed with either BP-I or BP-II.[1] Substance abuse disorders (which have high comorbidity with BP-II) and periods of mixed depression may also make it more difficult to accurately identify BP-II.[2] Despite the difficulties, it is important that BP-II individuals are correctly assessed so that they can receive the proper treatment.[2] Antidepressant use, in the absence of mood stabilizers, is correlated with worsening BP-II symptoms.[1]-
  • Rapid Cycles- Rapid cycling bipolar disorder can be a dangerous condition and carries a high risk of suicide. When a person with bipolar experiences four or more manic, hypomanic, or depressive episodes in any 12-month period, it’s defined as rapid cycling bipolar. While the term rapid cycling may make it sound as if the episodes occur in regular cycles, episodes actually often follow a random pattern. Because of the rapid mood swings associated with this type of bipolar disorder, the individual may feel as if they’re on an emotional roller coaster; swinging from the highs of mania to the depths of depression — all in the course of a few days or even hours. –
  • Cyclothymia– Cyclothymia — or cyclothymic disorder — is a relatively mild mood disorder. In cyclothymic disorder, moods swing between short periods of mild depression and hypomania, an elevated mood. The low and high mood swings never reach the severity of major depression or full mania. People with cyclothymic disorder have milder symptoms than occur in full-blown bipolar disorder. –

You can learn a lot more about each of these disorders by going to the links provided. This is just a brief description of each and I am sure their are more forms that you will be able to find with more research.

I wanted to inform you all of a few of the mental illnesses  a lot of people experience. Some are on the lower side and others on the higher side.

Mental illness is very common and some people wont even realize they have one until a lot later on in life if ever at all.

What people need to know is that it is okay to have mental illnesses it is not a downfall. It is very brave if you are able to admit that you do and get help. It takes a strong person to know that you will be okay and to know that it is okay to ask for help when you need it.

Because we are not alone. There is help. If you seek it you will find it.

I believe it is better to know and deal with your anxiety’s, problems, fears as they come rather then putting them aside and trying to forget about them because they will ultimately come back to haunt you. It is basically just prolonging the inevitably. Just like leaving the dishes. They aren’t going to magically do themselves. A lot  like your fears. They aren’t going to magically go away.

Depression is usually always a part of  bipolar. Some peoples it is a lot less then others. In bipolar 1 depresssion doesnt last nearly as long as bipolar 2. But people with bipolar do frequently experession days weeks or months of depression.

A lot of the syptoms of regular depression are the same for bipolar patients however they can be hightened when you have bipolar as most moods are. It is hard to see things differently then they way you do. This is normal. But there is ways to help yourself get out of these hard times. Find a good doctor 🙂 And remember:

You need to be kind to yourself and if you can’t fix them  yourself get help. It is not a weakness!

Will write more on this as I go. But a short post for now.

2014 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 590 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 10 trips to carry that many people.

Chapter. 13 – ‘ A new way to look at life. ‘

imagesKaliegh slept fantastic that night.

Her dreams were dreams she would remember forever.

She could hardly wait for her day to begin and be over with so her evening could start.

She awoke to an angry sounding twin.

“Why do you have to move around so much in your sleep?” her sister asked.

“I am sorry, I didn’t  realize I was,” is all Kaliegh could say.

And so her day started.

Kaliegh got up and made breakfast then went for a run and to the gym. This was her daily routine for most mornings, unless she had early classes, which were only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

After her run she decided to get started on a few of her papers and maybe do some studying.

However, studying and writing proved to be harder then she thought as her boy was texting her all afternoon. Kaliegh decided to give up for the day.

Her and her best friend Jody were starting to get ready and have pre-drinks around 4. Kaliegh was very excited and grateful her best friend would be there. Jody played University soccer and knew a lot more of the varsity players then she did. This meant she wouldn’t feel so shy or awkward because Jody would be there. Jody was always very outgoing and great at introducing Kaliegh to new people.

It was finally time to get ready. As usual Kaliegh couldn’t find anything in her closet to wear so she headed to Jodys to scavenge her closet and get her make up and hair done. Jody was always good at that kind of stuff and always had a plethora of clothes to choose from.

Two hours went by quickly when Kaliegh and Jody were drinking and getting ready. They always had so much fun together. Laughing and gossiping way to much of course.

Eight O’clock came around fast and it was time to head downtown.

Jody’s dad always offered to drive us which helped them from having to get a cab.

We arrived at 830 and Kaliegh got those butterflies back again. But this time it was a good feeling and she was so excited to see him again…..

Chapter 14 to come
